A Very Large English Antique Gothic Fireplace Mantel
About the Item
A very large and unusual Gothic Revival period stone chimneypiece. Wide cantered jambs, supporting gently arched spandrels with carved grotesques and beasts. The carved inner rope twist slip running across and under the key stone which again is carved with a grotesque and C scrolls. All beneath a very wide and generous mantle with shaped edging and under moulding. There are also two large black interior chamber panels with conforming beasts decoration.
