19th century Country French fountain with porcelain reservoir and basin is a charming ode to a bygone era! Back before hot and cold running water, it was desirable for family members and farm hands to have a place to wash up before coming inside for meals or at the end of the day. Fountains like this allowed the placement of water and a basin for that purpose either just outside the door or just inside. Over time the variations in materials and decorative aspects evolved. This example features a solid oak cabinetry with backsplash, surface, and small cabinet below for towels and soap. The hand-painted faience reservoir and basin are colorful and expressive, and invite one into the home with aplomb!
