About the Item
Magnificent historical and architectural carved Marble Ice Water Fountain from B. Altman's, Fifth Ave. NYC department store circa 1908, Elaborately carved from white veined black marble. The tall fountain with a large inner arch shape and carved leafy surround with the dolphin on a shell at the top with cattails, all in relief. Two holes appear at the right (with a crack). The lower lobed water basin is set in a demilune space with a fluted support, a rounded middle base with carved guilloche, on a cylindrical base. A Copper plaque reads "Filtered Ice Water." Uneven back due to its removal.
Measures: Height 73 1/2", Width 46", Depth 5 1/2"
Condition: a few loose pieces (included) and stable crack to the right of the dolphin (see photos) with the Fountain presenting magnificently.
