About the Item

A pair of Aesthetic Movement cast iron garden benches, known as the Lily pad design, with fine fern leaf detailing, and smaller Lily-style leaves to the angular legs. Coalbrookdale Iron Works and Foundry, Shropshire England, was one of the most important foundries to evolve during the early part of the Industrial Revolution in England. Signed C.B.Dale.Co. Registered Design Number No 217569. With a diamond date lozenge mark and No 47. Professionally bead blasted, painted black with Powder Paint, and baked in a hot oven. Powder Paint is specially designed to resist the extremes of outdoor weather. Seats and back rails have been renewed with planed and finished Iroko wood, an excellent outdoor wood with its own resistance to decay, therefore the wood can be left outside without painting it, and in time it will silver in color, but will not rot. They measure: Height 38" inches, Width 60 inches, Depth between the feet of the sides is 23 inches. The thickness of each end is approx 2 inches.
