Dedon "Obelisk" Garden Furniture

BG GALLERIES SALE PRICE THROUGH 30 April 2024 The Obelisk designed by Frank Ligthart for Dedon, 2008. No longer in production. It is composed of two pairs of matching high- and low-back chairs and a conical table. The base of the table supports all the chairs when stacked into its sculptural shape for storage. We also have available separately a near complete additional Obelisk consisting of three of the S chairs and one M chair plus the table. Image 9 shows the complete Obelisk plus the spare table and chairs. Best of both worlds is to have the spare set for seating together with the complete Obelisk as sculpture, until additional seating is required. Image 8 shows the "spare" set which includes 3 "S" chairs (instead of 2) and 1 "M" chair (instead of 2) and one table base. The discounted price for the spare set on its own is $3800. The spare set will not stack to form the obelisk because that requires two of each chair. This is the ultra-chic original space-saving solution for garden, pool or terrace furniture that launched a dozen imitations. The set includes four chairs and a coffee table which stack to form this impressive rocket shaped sculpture when not in use or more space is needed to accommodate your guests. Structurally robust and stable owing to internal cast aluminum frame. The synthetic woven wicker-like fibers (HDPE - High Density Polyethelyne) stands up to sun, salt water, chlorine, snow and can be left outdoors all year long. Frank Ligthart was born in 1971 in the Dutch city of Wijchen; he lives in Antwerp, Belgium. He studied product development at the Henry Vandevelde Institute at the academy of Antwerp in Belgium and industrial design at the University of Technology in Delft. Ligthart designed locomotives for the Dutch railway, and later – as freelance designer – furniture. Since 2001 he has worked for companies such as Brown Jordan, Grange, Garpa and Lambert. For his outstanding work Ligthart was awarded with several prestigious design awards, such as Design Plus Award (2003), red dot design award (2006), and BIDA Award for outstanding design (2006). Last image shows the obelisk with the additional cone table on the bottom for additional height.

Replacements made: We have replaced the internal upright post from the table base which had been a troublesome issue for the manufacturer. Wear consistent with age and use. Original white cushions show signs of use and fading and should be recovered. Second partial obelisk requires new cushions. Templates to be provided.
