The Obelisk designed by Frank Ligthart for Dedon, 2008. No longer in production. This is the ultra-chic original space-saving solution for garden, pool or terrace furniture that launched a dozen imitations. The set includes four chairs and a coffee table which stack to form this impressive rocket shaped sculpture when not in use or more space is needed to accommodate your guests. Structurally robust and stable owing to internal cast aluminum frame. The synthetic woven wicker-like fibers (HDPE - High Density Polyethelyne) stands up to sun, salt water, chlorine, snow and can be left outdoors all year long. The Obelisk by Dedon is composed of two pairs of matching high- and low-back chairs and a conical table. The base of the table supports the furniture when it is stacked into its sculptural shape for storage. Should you require additional seating beyond the Obelisk we also happen to have available separately three (3) low chairs and one high chair as well as another table. Please inquire about pricing. Last image shows the obelisk with the additional cone table on the bottom for additional height. Frank Ligthart was born in 1971 in the Dutch city of Wijchen; he lives in Antwerp, Belgium. He studied product development at the Henry Vandevelde Institute at the academy of Antwerp in Belgium and industrial design at the University of Technology in Delft. Ligthart designed locomotives for the Dutch railway, and later – as freelance designer – furniture. Since 2001 he has worked for companies such as Brown Jordan, Grange, Garpa and Lambert. For his outstanding work Ligthart was awarded with several prestigious design awards, such as Design Plus Award (2003), red dot design award (2006), and BIDA Award for outstanding design (2006).

Replacements made: We have replaced the upright post from the table base which had been a troublesome issue for the manufacturer. Wear consistent with age and use. Overall, fiber is very good. The white cushions show signs of use and fading. Easy to replace.
