Old Japanese stone bowl/"Tsukubai"/Garden stone/Rain gutter stone/

About the Item

This is a traditional Japanese item. In Japan, there is a culture of beautifying gardens. One such item, often placed where guests wash their hands, is this stone. It is called a "tsukubai" in Japan. Water flows through a bamboo pipe and is collected in this stone. Nowadays, it is cherished as an object that enhances the atmosphere of a garden. Given its relatively small size, it may have been used in a smaller garden. The material is likely to be tuff stone. The stone has three legs, and this type of design is quite rare. The legs are rounded, and the overall curves give it a charming appearance. However, the well-balanced form gives it an elegant and beautiful look. Additionally, the stone has a mix of white and reddish hues, with vein-like patterns that add to its visual appeal. This piece is believed to date from the Meiji to Showa period (1868-1970). It is highly recommended. Weight: 18.8 kg [We mainly sell old Japanese items. We've seen tens of thousands of items so far. Taking advantage of that experience, we are posting attractive items here.
