Beautiful Pair of Art Deco Wrought Iron Pedestals with Green/Black Marble Top

About the Item

Beautiful and rare pair of Art Deco three-legged pedestals in wrought iron with dark green "Tikal" marble hexagonal tops (marble found in Guatemala). They portray a distinguished yet simple style, each leg ending with an elegant curve and a very Fine detail in hammered brass. They were originally covered with several layers of white paint that have been carefully removed, leaving the original color of the iron. The original tops were missing and replaced with hexagonal marble with rounded edges. The precedence and creators of these pieces are unknown, they show no labels, engravings, or marks that could reveal them. They were manufactured with sophisticated ironwork techniques like foundry, wrought up, and riveting. However, at the end of the 19th. century and beginning of the 20th., french culture in general and furniture, in particular, were very appreciated in Mexico, so goods from France and other parts of Europe were imported on a regular basis (main department stores created at that time were named "France Galleries", "Paris Galleries" etc...) so it is very safe to presume they were made in that country.
