French 19th Century Mahogany Ionic Column

About the Item

Breathtaking 19th century French pedestal or architectural column in the Ionic order, carved from solid mahogany. This Neoclassical wonder has a magnificent capital, carved in layers of pattern: a square top surface rests on spiraling volutes at each corner, a row of egg & dart molding in between, and ribbed carvings on the left and right sides. The shaft is smooth, gradually widening toward the base. Whatever you chose to place on top–a vase, a plant–this column will make an impression anywhere. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready to join your interior. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition.
