Rare Documented Jansen Double Pedestal Dining Table
Located in New York, NY
A rare double pedestal dining table with mirror top by french firm Jansen. The oval top with plate glass mirror top having edged dart detailed edges. The top is supported by highly sculptural pedestals, having four cerule-shaped legs joined by an arched stretcher with a finial center. The top is extendable by means of a single extension leaf. The bases and carved wood edge have a limed finish with chipped paint surfaces exposing walnut and traces of gilding. Documented in the Jansen Furniture monograph written by James Archer Abbott published in 2007, (photo included in gallery) circa 1940 in the chapter on historical tables made by Jensen. Model also in Paris residence of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor provided by Stephane Boudin of Jensen Paris...
