An 18th-century staddle stone crafted from limestone and originating from England, this piece consists of two separate components: the base and the cap. When stacked together, they form a complete staddle stone. Traditionally, staddle stones served as sturdy supports for granaries, hayricks, game larders, and similar structures. By elevating these buildings above the ground, they allowed for air circulation to prevent rot, while the cap ensured that the building and its contents were out of reach for mice and other vermin.
