Italian 17th century Ormolu and Bréche Violette marble column

About the Item

A high quality and most decorative Italian 17th century Ormolu and Bréche Violette marble column. This truly stunning column with all of its original gilding is raised by a mottled edge circular plinth supported by a squared base. The eye catching gently tapered Bréche Violette marble shaft captivates with its striking blend of deep purple hues, contrasting veins, and a natural luster leading up to the top capital. The top of the marble shaft contains mottled edges while introducing the Ionic designed Ormolu top capital that has a squared display shelf above with concave sides. *As seen in the photos, this wonderful column is marked "STEODOSIA SPINOLA ABBADESSA DEL MON DEL SAN SALVADORE ANNO 1625" *
