About the Item
Italian Art Nouveau Majolica Pedestal and Planter with Heron, in the Style of Delphin Massier
This striking Art Nouveau majolica pedestal and planter was made in Italy and clearly reflects the influence of Delphin Massier's exuberant style. Featuring a sculpted heron surrounded by stylized reeds and crowned by a round planter adorned with pink lotus blossoms, the piece is rich in naturalistic detail and vibrant coloration.
Though not produced in Vallauris or by Massier himself, this model is a beautiful example of Italian ceramic craftsmanship inspired by the Mediterranean majolica tradition and the Art Nouveau aesthetic of the early 20th century.
The pedestal is marked “Made in Italy” on the underside.
