About the Item

Bring character and color to your interior or wine cellar with this striking pair of antique carved columns. Hand-carved in France circa 1750, each tall pedestal stands on a sturdy square base and features a rounded platform at the top, ideal for displaying sculptures, busts, or plants. The spiraled shafts are richly decorated with a grapevine motif, clusters of grapes and foliage entwine the column and are punctuated by delicately carved birds resting among the vines. Both architectural pieces are finished in a beautifully aged polychrome palette of ochre, green, and deep blue, creating a lively contrast with the natural wood tones. The bases and capitals are further embellished with acanthus leaf carvings and rope borders, adding depth and texture to their design. These decorative pedestals are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and would make a stunning statement in a den, game room, or entryway, as well as a refined accent in a wine cellar or tasting room.
