Pair of Italian 18th Century Louis XVI Period Patinated and Gilt Torchieres

About the Item

A beautiful and most elegant pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI period patinated and giltwood Torchière pedestals. Each Torchière is raised by a fine faux painted triangular base with concave sides and impressive scrolled feet adorned with finely carved luxuriant acanthus leaves. At the center are striking family crest reserves below the elegant circular tapered central supports. The supports are decorated with outstanding acanthus leaves and richly carved swaging berried laurel garlands tied at each side. Above lovely interlocking wrap around giltwood bands are the elegantly curved necks with fine fluted and reeded designs leading to the circular display tiers. All original gilt and patina throughout. Top Dimension: 15.5".
