19thc Imari Porcelain Large Japanese Planter

About the Item

This lovely large Imari porcelain planter features a patchwork of colorful filigree designs and symbols with vines, flowers and cranes in bright blues, saffron red and white. "Imari is a Japanese porcelain production site on the island of Kyushu, in the province of Hizen. One of the different styles of Imari porcelain found there is the Kirande style, also known as "gilt brocade". It is recognizable by the use of three specific colors (cobalt blue, saffron red and white) but also by a particular iconographic register (numerous floral motifs, animal and mineral elements.) "
