About the Item

Awesome antique concrete garden urn or planter. This salmon colored paint encrusted urn is in fabulous vintage condition with lots of gorgeous natural age patina. Please see photos, circa 20th century. This incredible antique garden urn should be yours! Comprised of concrete and having an old and patinated salmon colored original paint finish, which we are assuming is to replicate terracotta. It has been provided with a center drain hole and originally came from a home in a prestigious housing development from the 20th century. Its proportion and symmetry are outstanding, and it is adorned with a wonderful leaf style pattern. We know this would look fabulous outside, as was its intended use; however, I have used it in our showroom as a centerpiece on many a dining table and it is simply stunning. Organic Modern Cast Bronze Bowl Sculpture with Fish Design by John Forsythe
Located in Topeka, KS
Fabulous organic modern bronze fishbowl sculpture by John Forsythe comprised of cast bronze with golden bronze and green patination. Gorgeous vintage condition with no outstanding flaws that we have found. Please see photos. Circa 1993. No human being, however great, or powerful, was ever so free as a fish – John Ruskin, Picture Quotes. Just look at this magnificent cast bronze bowl sculpture with fish design created by John Forsythe. A decorative bowl comprised of a cast bronze water whirlpool with swimming fish caught in the spinning currents, their half bodies and patinated green tails distending from the swirling water and a fish tail protruding from the exterior base of the bowl. You feel the struggle of trying to stay above water and complete your journey. Surrounded by a cast bronze rim trimmed with shiny green bubbles or fish eggs as to represent salmon and their spawning. Salmon lay an enormous number of eggs because they face a lot of adversity on their journey to becoming an adult, and while we aren’t sure these fish are in fact salmon, it certainly speaks to the realities of the course of life. Overcoming hardships and struggles and new beginnings. This sculpture is unique and one of only fifty created by John Forsythe, so it is sure to be a sought-after piece for collectors. In the style of organic modern or fantasy, this piece would be gorgeous displayed on your dining table, display cabinet or buffet in the family room, or on the coffee table in the living room. John Forsythe knew at an early age that he wanted to be an artist. He graduated from Emporia State University in 1976 with his BFA and started working with metals. He was employed as manager of Oxbow Foundry and befriended Eldon Tefft, Founder of the International Sculptor Guild and Chair of the University of Kansas Art...
