About the Item

A superb pair of natural stone hand carved 19th Century planters originating from the west country (Cornwall, England). Originally mortar pots, they are smooth on the inside and tops with hand worn patina. Being mortar pots they benefit from not having drainage holes and could therefore be used internally as decorator pieces. They have a captivating wabi-sabi aesthetic, these planters feature the perfect balance of aged patina and natural imperfections, making them a testament to the beauty of age. Their impressive scale and muted colour tones provide a perfect natural aesthetic that is so hard to mimic. They can be used as standalone decorative pieces or used to showcase plants or dried twigs. Their timeless character would work equally well in country house, cottage or as contrasting pieces in a contemporary setting. Unusual to find a pair of this scale and character, both of similar diameter (14 inches) and height (17 inches). A narrow, tapering cone shaped internal form approx. 6-7 inches wide by 10-12 inches in depth. In excellent sound condition and ready for installation.
