Monumental Art Deco Concrete Planter, Garden Urn or Jardiniere, 1930s

About the Item

A rare monumental concrete planter or garden urn. This French Art Deco concrete jardiniere was reclaimed from the gardens of a mansion near Nice on the French Riviera. In the 1930s, concrete was a new, innovative, and avant-garde material that fascinated many designers who used it to create modern decorative objects. The iconic Concrete Tree was designed by Robert Mallet-Stevens in 1925. This antique pot of considerable size will lure in any view. This is a perfect stand-alone decorative piece of art for the home, patio, garden, or poolside. Elegant in form, it features a large amphora shape with four Art Deco bas-reliefs all around. A tall gadrooned collar and a deep inside space finish the design. The refined aesthetic makes it a perfect decorative vase for indoor use. A drilled hole inside the planter lets the water evacuate naturally. This piece is ideal for planting colorful garden flowers or for adding a touch of French luxury to your garden or your greenhouse. This planter would make a stunning centerpiece on a patio, planted with plenty of greenery or moss for an elegant look. It has been recently professionally cleaned and will gain a nicely weathered appearance after a couple of months of outdoor use. The garden planter is in good condition, with minor wear on the concrete due to outdoor use, but it does not significantly affect the overall appearance. Check all close-ups. Measurements: 25.60 in diameter (65 cm) x 31.50 in high (80 cm). The collar opening is 8.69 in diameter (22 cm). The inside depth is 23.62 in (60 cm).
