About the Item

This pair of stone jardiniere planters from Dijon, France, have beautifully thick quarter round edges above the cavetto sides. Because the stones were hand-carved (in the 1800’s), the dimensions of each planter differ somewhat. The overall size of the stones are comparable, but the size of the basins have considerable variations. Originally cream-colored, exposure to the elements have given the “pierre dur de Dijon” stones a light gray pigment. Traces of moss and lichen, coupled with a mottled black, yellow, green, and brown patina give added color. Both planters have existing, small drainage holes (one has two holes), but larger holes would need to drilled if the planters were to be installed as small farmhouse sinks. These antique French stone planters have a wonderful unique design and would look stunning in a variety of applications either indoors or out.
