A rare & sculptural 16th C. Marble mortar from the ancient city of Salamanca, Spain. Likely used by chemists/alchemists of the time due to its size and wear Heavily, heavily patinated with beautifully pitted texture and “warped” shape due to its utilitarian past and centuries of wear.
