About the Item
20th Century Garden Statue of Bronze intricately detailed and fine quality, China, 1950s.
The sculpture depicts a tall and elegant crane poised and holding a lotus flower in its beak. It is perched upon the back of a dragon turtle, legendary to Chinese folklore. Symbolically, according to Chinese mythology, the sculpture represents courage, determination, fertility, power, longevity, success, and support.
The statue was imported in the 1980s and since has been a focal point of an outdoor garden towering over a koi pond. The bronze has naturally oxidized over time.
Measurements are 68" tall x 20" wide x 32" deep.
