About the Item
Beautiful antique and all handcrafted, solid Carrara marble sculpture.
This rare work of religious art is entirely hand carved out of white marble. We are not certain, but we feel that this striking sculpture depicts Mother Mary. Her kind and serene facial features, her tiara and the fact that she is holding a cross and a book lead us to believe that the artist/sculptor is showing us Mary who is passing on the legacy of her son Jesus. The beauty and rarity of this piece is not only about who Mary was (and for many still is), but also in the striking angelic qualities and the fine details in her serene face and in her perfect body posture. Her beautifully draped cloth is another fine feature and the white marble, in our view, also emphasizes her purity. All these qualities make this divine sculpture an absolute joy to own and look at. This religious, spiritual and devotional work of art will bring peace, calm and a good atmosphere to the space she is in.
