Japanese antique stone Buddha “Nyoirin Kannon”/1750-1850/garden ornament
About the Item
This Buddha is called "nyoi-rin-kannon" in Japanese.
It is a Buddha statue that grants wishes as you wish and removes suffering.
This sitting figure with his hands on his cheeks shows that he is thinking about how to save people.
This is a stone Buddha statue made in the latter half of the Edo period in Japan.
Statues have been created in various parts of Japan since the mid-Edo period.
I have also posted a photo of a wood carving as a reference photo for Nyoirin Kannon.
Usually Nyoirin Kannon statues have six arms, but there are also statues with two arms. Stone statues in particular often have Nyoirin Kannon with two arms.
I have seen many stone statues of Nyoirin Kannon, but this one is particularly cute with its gentle curves and roundness.
The facial expression is also cute, like a cartoon character.
It weighs 14.2kg, so please place it in your garden or other place to display it.
The upper part of the head is missing, but much of the rest of the statue is well preserved.
This is a highly recommended stone Buddha.
[We, Brood, are a company consisting of four different stores with four different brands.
We offer a wide range of attractive items from all over the world with a focus on Japanese items.
We offer Japanese antique furniture and tools that are different from the Japanese antique furniture and art that have been appreciated abroad.
These tools were used in private homes and farmhouses in the past.
They have been passed through a long time and have an attractive taste.
The reality is that many of these items are now being discarded along with the demolition of houses.
We are on a mission to re-evaluate these fascinating old objects and preserve them for future generations.
And we have seen tens of thousands of items so far.
We have used that experience to list the most fascinating items here.
We can do this because of our long experience.
We will rediscover the "beauty" produced in the life and culture of the common people, which is different from the Japanese art and culture that is known and scattered around the world, and present it to the world. ]

This is a small stone statue believed to have been made in Japan during the mid to late Edo period (18th to 19th century). The figure represents "Jizo Bosatsu" (Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva), one of the revered bodhisattvas in the Buddhist tradition.
Jizo is a figure of infinite compassion, believed to save all sentient beings from suffering. He is typically depicted as a gentle monk, with a shaved head and wearing a long robe known as kesa. He often holds a staff in his right hand and a hoju (wish-fulfilling jewel) in his left—symbols of his power to guide souls and grant comfort. This particular Jizo statue...
