About the Item
A French cast iron Provençale jardinière from the early 20th century, with ancient Greek design and minimal decoration. This bell-shaped krater features a large, unadorned lip, overhanging the smooth belly, standing on a simple square base. adorned with well-worn low-relief carved scenes, and comprising two handles. Its charming weathered appearance reminds us of its time spent outdoors and of the effects of Provençal sun and rain. The jardinière stands on cement plinths of classical form. With its flawless proportions and lovely patina, this French cast-iron jardinière, circa 1920 will enliven any garden.
