A French 19th century Neo-Classical st. patinated bronze and ormolu Samovar

About the Item

An exquisite French 19th century Neo-Classical st. Patinated Bronze and Ormolu Samovar. The most decorative hot water server is raised on Ormolu ball feet below a Patinated Bronze tier with concave sides. The tier has a central stepped platform showcasing a decorative Ormolu sphinx. The main Patinated Bronze body of the Samovar is supported by four impressive ormolu fluted supports ending with pawed feet while at the top are lion heads within medallions. A very decorative ormolu spout is centered at the base. At both sides are scrolled Ormolu handles with rings and finished at the top with eagle heads. The handles are also joined by a decorative reeded ormolu band. At the top is the removable Patinated Bronze lid with a decorative Ormolu sphinx finial. All original patina and gilt throughout.
