Large Lapis Medica and Marble Coupe or Tazza

About the Item

This very impressive carved stone decorative tazza can be used as a fountain or as an urn. Constructed of rare Lapis Medica Onyx the piece is historically based on the specimen marble urns of antiquity and can also be compared to the fine examples seen in Russia and Italy from the late 18th and early 19th centuries .If used as a fountain the piece can disassemble and be piped thru a center hole already placed within the stem. This construction method makes its moving easy and less costly. The very size indicates the skill required to carve and turn on a lath stone of this kind, and represents a technical degree of skill and a large investment in man-hours only associated with the finest firms existing today.
