Set of 2 Anduze Urns by Boisset manufacture

About the Item

This rare and monumental pair of 19th-century Anduze vases, crafted by the famed Boisset manufacture, embodies the rich heritage of French garden artistry. One of the vases bears the sculpted signature of Boisset, a mark of authenticity and historical significance. The Anduze vase was born in the mid-18th century, when a Cévennes potter, inspired by the grace of Médici vases and the ornate beauty of Florentine designs, created a more robust and rustic version, adorned with delicate garlands and an escutcheon. These vases quickly became icons of aristocratic gardens, used to plant orange and lemon trees that adorned the grand estates of Louis XIV’s court. This magnificent set stands out for its exceptional patina, a testament to centuries of exposure, while still preserving traces of its original glaze. Their monumental proportions make them ideal for prestigious gardens, grand terraces, or as striking interior statement pieces. A rare opportunity to own a true piece of French decorative history.
