Maher Prairie School Stained Glass Arched Hollyhock window pair, 1906 George Washington Mayer Pair of window panels forming a rounded arched with stylized hollyhock motif, Morse House, Glencoe, IL, 1905-1906. Wood frames with leaded glass. Rare example of important prairie school architecture ready for display and/or installation. Each window: 61 H x 22 W x 3 D A contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright, George Washington Maher was a Prairie School architect whose work is known for implementing organic forms to soften the overt geometry of his architecture. Maher would incorporate an indigenous flower as a unifying motif for a particular project. For the Charles Morse House, Maher incorporated a hollyhock design in the windows as a unifying motif.
