Antique Chamberlain Worcester Porcelain Basket with Sea Shell Border,
circa 1835-40.
The Chamberlain porcelain fan basket with a white handle enhanced with gilt has a molded body with shaped ridges alternatively colored with stripes of blue and gold.
The interior of the basket has scattered flowers including roses. The raised border has applied realistic sea shells, coral, and seaweed.
Mark: Stamped in red with Royal standards and below Chamberlain/Worcester/155 New Bond Street/Royal Porcelain Manufacturers.
Dimensions: 6 inches length x 2 1/2 inches deep x 4 inches high (15.24 cm long x 6.35 cm deep x 110.16 cm high)

A small porcelain basket in Rococo Revival style with scroll and shell moulded borders, pierced handles on both ends, a pale yellow twig handle, a French blue ground with pale yellow foliage and a fine landscape painting in the centre.
This would make a perfect gift as a trinket dish - these baskets were often used to collect visting cards from guests.

The Samuel Alcock factory was operative in Staffordshire between 1822 and 1856, after which it was bought by Sir James Duke and Nephews. The factory started as a partnership between the young Samuel Alcock and the older Ralph Stevenson, who provided the factory and capital.
