Nantucket basket attributed to the Coffin School, 1900's

About the Item

A classic vintage Nantucket berry basket with a turned hardwood base, scored with double incised circles. The base captures 41 curved ash stays woven together with split bamboo, and is captured by a split ash dowel at the rim, all of which is lashed together with split bamboo. Attributed to the Coffin School. American, Nantucket, circa 1900.
