About the Item
Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens
A rare newspaper basket with Acorn finials (replaced), and a gadrooned top edge, of tapering form with ball moldings around the base of the basket. Standing on square molded tapering legs united by a H stretcher, and retaining the original brass and ceramic castors.

Note: According to Lutyens' daughter Mary, this newspaper basket was designed by Lutyens for his own use sometime before 1919 when his family were living at 13 Mansfield Street, London. On Lutyens' death in 1944, it passed to his wife Emily, and on her death in 1966 to her daughter, Mary.
