"Sunburst Wastebasket", Tole Wastebasket Painted Deep Red and Gold, Briger

About the Item

Commissioned by Briger Design and made by Mexican artisans in San Miguel de Allende, this painted tole wastebasket is entirely charming and winning. The flaring sides of the piece are painted with sunburst and fluttering ribbon designs in an antique, deep red and gold, and the upper edge features a crown of projecting triangular-shaped elements, again in old gold paint. The piece is raised on ball feet, and is signed on the bottom. Briger Design was founded by Cris and Paul Briger, and sourced its decorative objects from its workshop in New York as well as artisans in Mexico.
