Danish Art Nouveau match holder and ash tray by Viggo N. Myhregaard for P. Ipsens Enke in 1924 The handcrafted art nuveau match holder and ash tray was inspired by H.C. Andersens farytale "The Little Match Girl" from 1845. Ipsens Enke (1843 - 1955) was a very succesfull company that especially during the first part of the 1900´s managed to attract several leading names in Danish design who worked for the factory and exportet their pieces to many countries. Over the years, the manufactores creations acquired 56 first-class international prizes and are represented in many public institutions among them Neue Pinakothek in Munich, the National Museum in Stockholm, the Los Angeles Museum in California, Cleveland and the Brooklyn Museums, the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, the National Museum of Finland in Helsinki, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Les Amis des Musees de la ville de Mons, Brussels, the National Arts Club in New York and the Latvian National History Museum in Riga.
