African Vintage Twin Handled Hand Carved Wooden Bowl

About the Item

A stylish vintage African hand-carved twin handled wooden bowl dating from the early to mid-20th century. The bowl is made from a single piece of native wood and is of wide shallow round shape with shaped flat handles carved to two sides. The bowl has a hand chip carved finish using the characteristics and colors of the wood and has a waxed finish. Was previously used as a fruit bowl however is sculptural in its design and shape and is a lovely display piece. The bowl is typically not marked. Provenance: Acquired in the UK Art Market. In good condition with wear associated with age and use.

    A rare and stunning French majolica twin handled pottery bowl applied with birds by renowned maker Sarreguemines and dating from the latter 19th century.
