Antique French Brass Cachepot (circa 1700s)

About the Item

Antique three-legged French brass cachepot (circa 1700s). This piece has a fascinating connection with historical figures. The crest on the side is a version of one belonging to the family of the Duc de Villars who was a French military hero during the reign of Louis XIV. The Duc was the keeper of the Chateau de Condrieu (like the famous wine of that name) which is just south of the city of present day Lyon. The pot's handles are now gone but the repair has been sensitively treated and it certainly retains its original charm. You may use the piece as a planter or simply as a beautiful home décor accent in any room. In good overall condition all things considered - it is showing some characterful signs of usage commensurate with age. Please enjoy the many photos with this listing. Upon request a video will be provided. Dimensions: H 19 cm / 7.5" Dia 30 cm / 11.8"
