Antique French Carved Petrin Large Bowl on Stand
About the Item
Antique French Petrin Large Bowl on Stand, early to Mid 1800s. This unique piece is ornately carved with bakery themed items, wheat and decoration. The over shape is half - barrel shaped. Plain top has handle made of original metal scraper. The metal scrapper was used to scrape the dough as it was rising, preparing it for kneading. The petrin sits on two legs that allow is to swing. The top is newer, but the balance is original. Another new addition is the compartmentalized lined drawer-tray inside.

Acquired from a private collection in Colorado. Owners lived in Northern France and shipped this piece, along with many other pieces in our online store, back to the US when they moved back.
