Archibald Knox designed sterling silver bowl 'The Maya" hallmarked in 1900

About the Item

Hallmarked in London in 1900 by Liberty & Co. This fantastic and collectible Antique, Edwardian Sterling Silver Bowl, is a design attributed to Archibald Knox entitled 'The Maya', and is an early part of the Cymric range of silver he designed for Liberty. The bowl is listed as item number 5 in the 1899 Cymric catalogue, and is also depicted in the later catalogue produced circa 1901. The original design drawing by Knox is in the Silver Studio archive of the Museum of Domestic Design & Architecture, at Middlesex University. The bowl is beautifully hand raised, standing on applied legs and features attractive chased scroll decoration around the body. The bowl has a diameter of 4.5"(11.5cm) and measures 2.75"(7cm) tall. It weighs 7 troy ounces.
