Bronze reproduction of a 17th Century Chinese Brush Pot by Armando Benato

About the Item

Bronze reproduction of a 17th Century Chinese Brush Pot by Armando Benato Sand cast bronze, by Armando Benato Dimension: Ø13.5 x 13.4 cm 5.31 x 5.28 in stamped with P.Tendercool logo at bottom. Chinese brush pots hold a special place in the rich historical and cultural tradition of the literati, or scholars, in Chinese art. They were cherished as art objects and used for storing and displaying calligraphy and paintbrushes. Collecting scholar’s objects – refined objects related to the fine art of Calligraphy and Painting - originated during the Tang dynasty (AD 609-906) and has continued to play a significant role in Chinese art and culture ever since. Different styles and techniques emerged over time, with porcelain and jade becoming popular materials in later dynasties. Antique Scholar’s objects are highly valued and sought after by collectors worldwide, often fetching record prices at auctions. Founders of P. Tendercool, Stephanie Grusenmeyer and Pieter Compernol are antique collectors and decided to reproduce some of their brush pots from their collection. They approached octogenarian Armando Benato, an Italian bronze master who worked for artists like Salvador Dalí. Who is still in charge of sand-casting P. Tendercool’s creations. Armando loved the project and re-created their brush pots in bronze, following the ancient sand-casting tradition he mastered in his 60 plus year career. Every brush pot is cast and patinated by the master himself using the traditional fire-technique. P. Tendercool has always been committed to honor ancient traditions in our modern fast-paced times. This is an opportunity of owning a historical item while supporting the preservation of traditional craftsmanship. Brush pot is wrapped in handmade paper, packed in a custom made Tomobako box and tied with an authentic Sanado Himo ribbon.
