Brutalist Bronze and Natural Amathyst, Quartz, and Citrine Crystal Bowl

About the Item

This 1970s-era Brutalist bronze bowl is both spectacular and unique. Measuring approximately 11" by 7", the bowl has a bronze wire basket with plenty of room for a mound of lemons, apples or whatever you wish. Three discreet bronze wire feet create a well-balanced piece. But the real story is along the rim: here, ten natural quartz crystals have ben set into the bronze. The metalwork looks molten, as if it has melted around the crystals. There are four clear quartz crystals, two rich citrines, and four amethyst crystals. All of the natural gems have their ponty terminals intact. It's an absolutely gorgeous showcase for these spectacular gems. This bowl looks to be the work of Brazilian artist Edilson Carvalhu, and part of his Rio Copa Collection. While I cannot find a maker's mark, his work was so distinctive and because he was not a superstar, it's doubtful there would be such an exact replica of his style. Bold and unique, this one-of-a-kind bowl brings the beauty and energy of natural rough crystals into your world and home. I believe the bowl and the gems themselves are of Brazilian origin.
