China Service for 12 Wedgewood Gold Grecian Circa 1964

About the Item

A complete set of bone china table service for 12 by Wedgewood of England. The pattern is called "Gold Grecian" and was only produced between 1962-1966, so it is an uncommon pattern. This table service is 130 individual pieces in total. The entire set is in excellent condition. A limited number of pieces have light wear of the gilding (the plate with the most wear is shown in the pictures), while other pieces seem to show no wear at all. All bear the Wedgewood hallmark on the bottom. The entire collection is without chips or cracks. The table service includes the following individual place settings: 12 Dinner Plates (10 ⅝") 12 Lunch/Salad plates (7 ¾") 12 Bread plates (5 ¾") 12 Soup Bowls with Saucers (4 ¼") 12 Fruit/Dessert bowls (5") 12 Tea Cups with Saucers (3") 12 Demitasse Cups with Saucers In addition, the service includes the following service pieces: 1 Coffee Pot with Lid (8", 4 cups) 1 Tea Pot with Lid (6", 4 cups) 1 Oval Serving Platter (13 ⅝") 1 Oval Vegetable Serving Bowl (9 ¾") 1 Round Serving Bowl with Lid (8") 1 Creamer 1 Sugar Bowl with Lid The white and gold palate makes this a perfect set of table service for formal dinners; likewise, it would make an excellent set of china for the beach or country house. One of the Demitasse Cups bears a signature in black marker for "John Wedgewood" along with a date in 1964. John Wedgewood was the great-great-great-grandson of the founder of Wedgewood, and he was known to sign Wedgewood items when visiting stores that carried the pieces, and at other times as well. The signature could probably be removed with Acetone should you wish, but it definitely adds to the uniqueness of the piece.
