About the Item

Very rare large low bowl by Nils Kähler for the Danish ceramic workshop Kähler. It features a deep turquoise blue glaze, vivid as an ocean, and has a rim of beige glaze surrounded by an irregular accentuation in oxblood red glaze. The crazing in the glaze is part of the expression and adds vivity. On the outside the bowl is unglazed and shows the rough beige glaze. The bowl has a strong expression. The bowl is hand signed on bottom with "HAK" and "Nils" (for Nils Kähler). The ceramics from the Kähler workshop were since about 1875 signed "HAK" for Herman August Kähler who was the son of the founder.
