French 19th Century Copper Fish Kettle

About the Item

A fabulous French 19th century copper poissonniere or fish kettle. This long and extremely heavy rectangular pot was crafted of solid copper and retains its three large original handles attached with rivets and interior removable zinc grille liner. This substantial country essential was used for cooking fish on the open hearth and is in excellent condition with a rich, patinated finish. A sturdy, versatile, traditional piece that can still be used for cooking, or with its beautiful oblong shape, simply displayed.
