French 19th Century Neoclassical Style Marble and Ormolu Tazza

An outstanding French 19th century neoclassical style Rouge Griotte marble and ormolu tazza, attributed to F. Barbedienne. The urn is raised by a square Rouge Griotte marble base with a bottom ormolu border. The ormolu socle pedestal displays a mottled stepped design and Fine foliate movements below a reeded pattern. At the bowl are two ormolu bands with recessed beaded designs on a Fine hammered background linking the handles at each side. The inside of the bowl is finished with a striking and richly chased round ormolu plaque of a maiden and a smoldering urn. All original gilt.
