About the Item

Cirac 1910, unique Art Nouveau bowl compote decorated like a summer basket with a wrought black iron handle decorated with nicely detailed flowers and leaves. The bowl in ceramic vibrant turquoise tint blue Sevres enamel glaze is detachable, signed PM Sevres, by Paul Milet for Sèvres. Paul Jean Milet (French 1870 - 1950) came from a family of potters in the town of Sèvres and entered his father's pottery workshop in 1894 where for the next 36 years, he created high-quality ceramics sought after by a Parisian clientele. His work is distinguished by the Art Nouveau movement influence and his early works favor floral decor like this one, with a passion for a very high-quality glazing work in vibrant colors that became his trademark.
