About the Item
French Mid-century ceramic decorative vide-poche (sundries tray) by Jacques Blin (circa 1950s). Created in Blin's trademark misty glaze in a subtle magenta hue, this elegant sculpted tray is incised with a stylised sunflower. Its presence and sensuous curves suggest it would spark interest in any room in the house. In good overall condition. Signed on the underside. Ideal for Jacques Blin collectors and for those who love mid-century French ceramics. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided.
About the Artist: Jacques Blin (1920-1995) who was an engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently depicted fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and whimsical abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin". A comprehensive book of the works of Jacques Blin has recently been released in both French and English: 'Jacques Blin, Ceramiste & Porteur d'Histoires' by Christine Lavenu.
