About the Item

The “Selena” glass bowl is an exceptional example of Scandinavian functional glass artistry, designed by Sven Palmqvist for the legendary Swedish glassworks Orrefors. It is an object that combines pure form with masterful glassmaking technique. A bowl with a gently bifurcated form. Smooth, organic lines reminiscent of natural forms - waves, water drops, shells. Often has slightly drawn, thickened edges, which emphasizes the massiveness of the glass and its play of light. Thick glass with high gloss and perfectly finished edges. Decorative object - the bowl has an aesthetic function, but often also a utilitarian one (e.g. potpourri, casket). Minimalist, but luxurious - it fits perfectly into modern and classic interiors. Sven Palmqvist One of Sweden's leading glass designers of the 20th century. He worked at Orrefors from 1928 until the 1970s, introducing innovative techniques. His works are characterized by a combination of craftsmanship, sculpture and experimentation. “Selena” is a bowl that perfectly captures the spirit of Swedish design of the 1950s - organic, balanced, clear, yet elegant. It is not only a utilitarian object, but also a testimony to an era when glass was treated as a full-fledged form of applied art. dimensions height 5.7 cm - 9.5 cm x 9.5 cm height 5.5 cm - 12 cm x 8.5 cm
