About the Item
Mid-Century Modern centerpiece bowl by Swedish designer Gunnar Nylund (1904-97) for Rörstrand, Sweden. It belongs to the Igloo series which Nylund designed in 1965. The bowl is original from the period and made ca 1960s to 70s.
The bowl is made from stoneware and has a dark green glaze with ochre brown elements and a pale green blue stripe decor. The surface is textured.
The bowl is a factory first edition and fully marked on bottom.
It is in a very good vintage condition.

Gunnar Nylund (1904-97) was a famous Finnish-Swedish artist working with ceramic and glass.
He worked at Bing & Grøndahl in a short period from 1926-28 just before he established Saxbo together with Nathalie Krebs 1928-31. In 1931 he came to Rörstrand in Sweden and became shortly after their artistic leader. He stayed there until 1955 and also made several freelance works. From 1955 he was artistic leader at Strömbergshyttans Glasbruk.
