About the Item
This most unusual high quality bowl originates from the Art Deco period circa 1930.
It is a high quality piece made in two parts. The outer is made from hammered pewter with hand cut pierced sections separated with engraved and hand chased sprays of stylised flowers.
The cut out sections highlight and show the most unusual inner liner which is made from a fabulous and rare marbled bakelite which is made up from several subtle colours and shades.
Bakelite was a relatively new medium which was highly fashionable in the 1930s as it was a new and unseen material.
This wonderful bowl is in excellent condition. It must have been protected over the years and perhaps displayed in a cabinet as it shows very little signs of use and handling.
