Italian Ceramic Bowl Fratelli Fanciullacci for Bitossi, 1960s

About the Item

Mid-Century Modern textured Italian ceramic bowl made by Fratelli Fanciullacci in the 1960s for Bitossi. A glossy glaze over a heavily incised body. ITALY is written on the inside of the bottom base. Bitossi bought Fratelli Fanciullacci after the war and allowed the family to continue making their wares with not much interference. A devastating flood in 1966 destroyed the factory which was rebuilt but quality suffered and finally the company closed in 1988.
