About

James Prestini (1908-1993) was an artist whose work is prized for its simplicity and masterful blend of craft and functionality. Understanding design through the lens of a mechanical engineer in tandem with adhering to the principles of the Bauhaus has given his work a timelessness and longevity that is only shared with a handful of his contemporaries. His sculpture is highly sought after for its Minimalist aesthetic but over the course of his career he become most well-known for his lathe turned bowls. He was the professor of Fine arts at the University of California, Berkeley for many decades. His work can be found in a plethora of museums and important private collections. This piece is an exceptional example of his work and is in excellent condition. A wonderful wide and low bowl with his branded signature on bottom. The images do not do it justice.
